I know this is an awkward one...trying to guage approximate weight of my mare(but i'm in college and she's in field!!). she's 17.1hh well built but not chunky and extremely fit at the mo. trying to get average weights to work out for lorry i'm enquiring about that is 5.6tonne unladen and i want one to carry her plus one or two more. i have hgv so can buy bigger wagon but just wondering! so any ideas???

Out 16.2 chunky ISH (mostly ID) is approx 675/700kg, our 16.1 LW/MW warmblood is about 525. My friend used to reckon her 17hh TB was about 600/625 but he was quite fine.
My lorry is 6t unladen (old bedford

) and I can take 2 big horses safely, or 3 ponies (my arab is about 425kg so him and two his size/smaller would be ok.
TBH I also have my HGV and when we eventually trade in the bedford I will go for a 10t so I can safely carry 3 horses. From advert browsing I reckon you get more for your money as well as there are fewer people who can drive them. Nice 10t Renault on Ebay atm, not sure what your budget it though.

ETS mine is 6t unladen with two people, large rottweiler, full water tank and 3/4 diesel tank.

LOL! Careful!! Last time I made a thread like this, for this exact reason, I had a dozen people who very helpfully told me that you couldn't possibly guess their weight and I had to take her to a weighbridge

We put millie on a weighbridge - which was rather embarassing! And she was 700kg

but has been on a major diet since then - she is the 16.2 chunky ISH/ID. In our defence she had already been on field rest 3 months.
She has masses of bone (almost 12 inches) though, in XL boots and they are only just big enough, a 7'rug.
