Someone I know is having a "horse whisperer" out to see her mare. Now I don't know, whats it all about? She says that she tells him/her nothing about the horse and just leaves them with the horse and he/she will tell her what is "wrong". I'm talking, "well i have had 3 foals and i had a bad accident and i am p***ed off"! Weird............It costs £25 (which is pretty good isn't it) and to be honest i am temped just to see what she says! I am a sceptic but sometimes you "just don't know". Has anyone else experienced these people? I want to believe it so am going to give it a try with Fly. I will video it (if allowed) and post it perhaps. Must be open minded ..........BUT...???

I had one to one of my horses a few months ago. I didnt tell her anything about him. She picked up on an old injury he had years ago that still makes him feel uncomfortable. She also told me all sorts of his characteristics which she couldnt have made up. Apparently he likes living with me because i dont swear at him!!. ( He had a pretty bad time some years ago when he was younger!) He also wishes i would hunt him cos he used to love it, but he knows i probably wont!. - Hes quite right about that cos i cant afford to hunt as well as event.
She came up with alsorts of amazing things. I have always been a sceptic but i dont think it hurts to have an open mind. It was certainly an interesting £25 spent.

i havent tried it before but as we type some of my mares and foals mane are on the way to devon to a woman called ann to read!!..........i'm open minded so thought i had nothing to lose except £30 and possibly loads to learn! my mare has been through so much before i got her and then some whilst i have had her so thought i would give it a go. i think most people will think i'm nuts but i dont care especially if throws some light on brackens past! there is a post on the horse healer/whisperer it is a few pages down now titled horse healer and it was due to this post that i'm getting it done!

I have had all 4 of my horses done. The lady was so spot on with all of mine. I was so amazed by it all i am taking a course on it next weekend so hopefully i will be able to do it soon.

It's funny, but horse whisperers all seem to get the same message;
1. That the horse has had an unhappy past and has been troubled by either lameness or metabolic problems.
2. That horsey acknowledges he has a problem with ___ behaviour deduced from props, so if control headcollar visible, leading, if strong bit, then listening to hands etc.
3. That he/she is much happier with you (the new owner) but wishes you would be more sympathetic at times.
How cynical am I?

You wont be allowed to video it I bet! I asked to voice record it when I had a session with a Horse Whisperer and they refused - I had to try and remember all the info she spewed out!

I was VERY dubvious to say the least, but Id heard other people saying they'd had the woman and she was very good. So I had a session with her (we were allowed to stay with the horse with her as she did it). The first thing she picked up on was his front legs - she said he loves his front legs, funny thing is he does LOADS with his fronts, he's very expressive with them! She even said that my boy wanted me to go slowly with his training which I sort of knew because I felt I was pushing him a bit too quickly! She said we have arguements quite a lot yet we also have some really nice moments (true - but then he's a welsh cob so thats quite stereotypical!). She even mentioned nettles growing up our fence line.... and that he likes his friend, a grey (his best friend is a grey!). She also mentioned that he remembers a very long journey in a lorry with another horse who kicked all the way (he was brought up from Wales to me in Scotland with a stroppy horse!). She said he didnt like the hay being kept in my trailer (I keep a bale in the other side of the trailer partition to re-fill haynets etc.).

A lot of what she said was very scary. Some of it we just couldnt work out how she'd have known as it wasnt vague enough to apply to everyone.

Its worth a go, you never know!

Yes have had 3 readings in the past for a horse with physical and behavioral issues - See Pagancloughies post re Horse Healers on 30/06/07.

Sounds like a fun thing to have done if you keep an open mind. But if these people have a "gift" and just want to help, why do they charge such a lot? Surely just charging travel expenses would be more in keeping?

the woman who i'm using is based in devon i'm in cheshire!!, shes charging me £30 for the reading all i had to do was send some mane or tail down! PM me if you want her phone number
