You may remember my fear about a nice lady coming to see my horse the other day, fears confirmed when he lunged forwards and nearly had her off. Well, somone mentioned that you have to love a horse with a sense of humour... I brought him in yesterday, tacked up, mounted and dismounted several times walked him to the mounting block, turned him around the mounting block, made him stand etc for about 15 minutes and he behaved much like a seaside donkey for the entire time. He does go to walk forward as soon as your bum touches the saddle but I had a friend hold him and make him stand and he soon stood for me.
I can only conclude one of the following;
a) Horse doesn't want to leave
b) Horse is stupid
c) Horse is schizophrenic
d) Horse was having an off day
e) My nerves were upsetting him
Lovely boy then schooled nicely for half an hour, never once getting the wrong canter lead (did several times when OH rode him for potential purchasers) and maintaining a beautiful outline with NO nose poking at all in any way. I should be happy and content but am actually a little mad as I hate getting caught out by practical jokes! Bloody horse, no feed for him tonight- let's see him sniggering then!
