I've heard that about fennel too, though I've never tried it!
I shouldn't worry though, Little Black One suffers terribly (well, everybody around him suffers actually! lol) from 'excessive wind' & it's never done him any harm!
Better out than in & in fact, the only time I worry is if he doesn't do it!
We used to have a very windy Sec A, especially when he coughed. I will always remember one day at a show he was tied to the lorry, there was a man asleep on a deck chair next to us, and our pony coughed, did the most enormous fart and the man woke up so fast that he fell off his seat!
From that day on, they were called Coff-farts!
Isn't charcoal meant to help flatulence? Must try some on OH someday, grind up a pencil or bit of burnt twig in his food or something.
Ha ha - kite - like that one, made me chuckle! Think am destined to have "jet propelled" horse and at least it makes the judge smile ! Bless him, glad to hear it's a common problem and ta muchly for all the advice
My pony Cindy is the only one on our yard with such a problem ! when my friends mum came to see him, Cindy was tied up in the the middle of the barn when she started doing the loudest and longest fart you had ever heard, Jans face was a picture, she said she didnt think horses did that !!! when Im out hacking I dread going past people in the village as she always seems worse when people are about, she must know how embarrassed I get !
