I watched a video today of myself riding the horse that I bought for my OH but which turned out to be completely unsuitable. I hadn't seen the film before and I knew that the horse went behind the bit whenever I gave him a longer rein but when I saw him on the film he actually tucked his chin onto his chest and looked for all the world like I was using that horrible rollkur thing on him. The muscles in his neck were really standing out.
I don't suppose it really matters now as we no longer have the horse. We sold him after he threw me off on a hack and I nearly came off half a dozen more times . I sent him for re-schooling but no-one could do anything with him. I just wondered though what might have made him tuck his chin down so far? He had very well defined neck muscles and was lean and athletic looking. I think he may have been Welsh D x WB but I am not 100% certain. He was very nervous, headshy and humped his back up and threatened to buck when you got on. I had vet, dentist, saddler and physio but no-one could find a physical problem and said it was behavioural.
