I dont know a gret deal about showing, but are the results as widely published and accessible as showjumping, and eventing? I would be worried that he wasnt actually being competed.

Id feel a bit of a mug as well. It shows a complete lack of respect. Go and get him, and send him to somebody who wants him enough to make the effort.

They sent me a pic of him at a competition at the beginning of March, he looked fantastic and I was really pleased. I had a text that time too, although it was very brief. Since then he has been out again, although I have asked several times how he's got on and no response. I have been to the yard to see him a few times and he's always looked really well, the yard is lovely and all of the horses look great. The issue is that they are crap at keeping in touch. Either way I am bringing him home, I only wish it had worked out better

Par for the course in my experience.

A once a week update, however, is not too much to ask for. And people are usually easier to get hold of in the evening.

And of course, you can go and watch the horse compete, that way you get updated and see the ponio...

Its hard to tell if they are just useless at being in touch or if there is a bigger issue.

The horse world is full of people who have not had any kind of training about how to run a business, customer care or just are not self starters and not really suited to run their own business. What you are asking for is more than completely reasonable and they should expect to keep in touch once a week or fortnight or so.

Unfortunately there are also plenty of people in the horse world who will take on a horse to school and then leave it to their grooms to ride or not bother or leave it for another day. In your situation its nearly impossible for you to tell if this is happening or not.

I had the same issue a while back and after many attempts to explain I'd like a courtesy text or convo once a month I left.

I was paying £1000 a month and left . The guy was an arrogant **** and if I knew then what I know now i'd never have used him.

He lost out though, he couldn't be bothered to ring for a couple of minutes a month and I figured he have to spend 20hrs teaching to get that money back so he was a fool.
