Horse with sore withers

I have already posted about my fine horse with high withers that are sore at the mo. I have been advised to ride him to let him stop borrying himself about it. Any thoughs? am i ok to ride tomo despite his sensitive sopt Will he be okay to ride?

Any comments? Thoughts? Guidance? Thanks
