Hi, long story but horsey came in from field with cut to head and received vet care and staples. He is now out in the field happily munching.

Staples need to stay in for 10-15 days before removal and vet said yes you can still ride him.

I haven't so far.........would you?

(staples are near forlock and would not be touched with the bridle)

my horse fractured his skull headbutting a tree a couple of years back
i gave him 6 weeks off as with any other broken bone, the vet told me a could ride after a couple of weeks but i decided to give him longer,

when mine tried to de-glove her ear by headbutting a tree (dont ask shes "speshal" bless her  ) and had 16 staples accross the bottom of it (i have pics if anyone is really intersted lol) i rode her out after a few days in headcollar and leadropes as browband would have rubbed - she was fine and dandy and happy to be out :)

eta - just saw amy_b's post lol we obv both have speshal horses!! luckily mine just tried to take her ear off and didn't go any deeper!

obv i waited until swelling was down and it was obv there was no infection etc - by then she was running about field desparate for a hack out

Sounds like a similar injury my horse had once and I carried on riding him. He was totally fine, and in fact would have gone stir crazy not being ridden for that length of time which could well have led to another injury!
