HI, i have an ex-racer that did his tendon last yr, is looking ok, just want a good boot to support him when being ridden?
I like the look of the equilibrium training wraps? any others to recommend??

I think the easiest thing to say here would be to look in the stable yard and veterinary forums for the numerous and frequent posts on the same topic.

And yes I have the Equilibrium wraps which are IMO the best option (for a horse that doesn't brush).

Daisy damaged her synovial seal this year and I after months of treatment I asked the vet what boots she should be wearing and he said that he wouldn't bother unless I bought Kevlar ones

Hi I have ex racer who has just done his tendon. How much rest did you have before you brought him back into work.Everyone seems to have a different opinion on rest even the vets.
thanks c

Be very careful about using overly supportive boots on a horse with a previous tendon/leg injury. Research has proven that overly heating a previously damaged tendon by over booting can cause serious damage to the area. Boots that go over the fetlock and allegedly support the leg actually cause serious strain on a tendon, the tendon has to work far harder to move the leg as there is pressure around the fetlock. You are far better off buying some good tendon boots such as prolite or NEW tendon boots. They do not go round the fetlock joint but will protect against impact.

My TB is an ex racer - he did a tendon racing in his last race. he had 12 months off work, of which he was box rested for about 6 months and then walked out in hand every day for 6 months. There is actually a fantastic company called Tendon Works that are the absolute gurus on tendon issues. Speak to them and see what they recommend.

same, he had a full year off now just coming back slowly its been 17 months now and is looking quite good now??
also could i show him in the ex racer classes they do, or would he be marked down because of his tendon??
