Horse has been on box rest for 14 weeks and is the wettest horse known to man. Noticed yesterday his hooves stunk, had a look and he has thrush
Luckily the farrier has been today, pared and trimmed him and sprayed on Bactokill (sp?)
Rang up the local shop where I can put Bactokill on account and it's £23
Is it the best thing for thrush? The medicine cabinet is locked, no idea where the key is

Monty gets thrush when stabled since he likes standing in the wet bits. I use hydrogen peroxide.

You can buy it from the chemist very cheaply and spray it on with a plant sprayer.

As a preventative, I use tea tree oil stuff that I get from the tack shop since it seems less harsh.

Hydrogen Peroxide solution (8%)- got mine from Tesco pharmacy, less than £1 per bottle! Use a syringe if you can get hold of one to help with the aim and wear gloves if you have a cut on your hand!
