Well, after having splashd out on foot supplements to help my boy with thin soles, he is now turning his nose up at it

It does seem a bit smelly? Anyone else had issues or have any tips/suggestions?

pro hoof?! Theres no smell to mine at all! Not that id get too close and inhale cos ud probably end up snorting it!

Er could try some herbs in with it? What else are u feeding it with?

i am having a similar thing with my donkey i bought hoofmender and she wont eat it, so i dont give her hay till she does.

have you tired adding

mint
sugarbeet
apple juice
apple puree
garlic etc
might help

Its weird! I can't get any smell from the tub at all, but when its in his feed it has a weird smell, kind of yeasty/coppery?!! He also has danillon in it which doesn't smell either and which he has eaten in the past?

His feed in just fast fibre and happy hoof (haven't got round to changing that yet!)

One of the problems with Pro Hoof is that it doesn't come with a bunch of sweeteners to tempt horses like the other supplements out there:)

Sometimes it is the powdery feel they object to at first. My Arab eats pretty much anything but my Tank doesn't hold with any 'foreign foods' :p

I feed herbs also;
Mint (digestion)
Clivers/Cleavers (circulation)
Nettle (purification)
Dandelion (purification)
Milk Thistle seeds (liver aid)
Marigold flower (immune system)
Chamomile (skin health)
Hawthorn (immune system)
Neem (skin health)
Buckwheat (general health)

I throw a bunch of them in a tub depending on the time of year and what is needed.
As well as being tasty - they are therapeutic.

I also feed fenugreek seeds (appetite stimulant) and turmeric (joint health) which they both love!

I've used bran - as they love that too but only in small amounts due to the high calcium/phosphorous balance in my forage.

Apple juice to wet the feed is a favourite treat.

Find something he likes and give more of that and less of the Pro Hoof - then decrease the liked feed and add more Pro Hoof until he gets used to it. The Tank is now up to his full ration of minerals with this tactic.

Initially I used Tesco's Curry Powder which he loved too:p
