Horsebox builder recommendations

Hiya,
I have been considering buying a horse lorry for a while now, and have discovered it would probably work out better for me to have one built. It’s a minefield and as I’m not experienced in buying horse lorry’s I’m after some recommendations on who best to go to for a custom build and who to avoid! I’m wanting a 3.5t or 4.5t build. If 3.5t needs to have a decent payload/ potential to be uprated. I’ve looked at so many companies and reviews, and still haven’t managed to come to the conclusion which builder would be best. I’ve got a budget of 33,000 inc VAT, so not huge but hopefully enough to get me something decent- TIA 😊

I had mine built to my spec by Staffordshire Horseboxes, my 2nd 3.5 from them. They are brilliant but may not be able to build to your budget, however no harm in asking. Mine is basic, no living or extras like that but safety is important to them.
 
Speak to Peper Harow. If you want more payload you're better off going with a 5t straight off. An uprated 3.5t is still a 3.5 chassis. You won't get new unfortunately with your budget unless you forego all bells and whistles or base your new build on a much older chassis which kind of defeats the point of a new build. You'd be better off buying a good 2nd hand from a manufacturer with a guarantee.
 
Hunter Horseboxes without a doubt! I had mine custom built last year and literally had free rein for what I did/didn’t want in it and they let me in the workshop multiple times to not only see mine being built but others too so I literally saw mine at every stage - I went to a few others first and they weren’t as open. I was involved in an accident in the horsebox and we were all completely fine, my youngster walked out calm as anything, don’t think she even knew what had happened! It was all cosmetic damage mainly due to how strong the box was built and it went back to Hunter to be fixed where they also gave it a full check over so I knew it was completely safe again. I 1000% wouldn’t have any other build!!!
