Horsebox Dilemma! Help

Hi,
I am looking to get a new horsebox but am getting really confused about the leglislations and laws!
I know if your have your licence before 1997 then you can drive up to a 7.5t and if you got your licence after 1997 then you can drive up to a 3.5t and have to sit your cat C1 test to drive bigger.
BUT! What is the difference between a non-hgv 7.5t and a hgv 7.5t and all this tacogram hassel?
has anyone got any clues and have an personal experiences of being pulled over by the police?

Up to 7.5t is classed as non HGV. Anything over 7.5t eg 7.6t is classed as HGV and has to have a working tacho and a card must be inserted and used every time that vehicle is on the road

Ok but the box im looking at is a 7.5t HGV so why is it not classed as a non-HGV. Thanks

thats its max gross weight mine is 7.5 but doesn't weigh that thats the max it is legal to weigh when it has horses in

If it's 7.5t then it can't be an HGV. Unless they mean it used to be an HGV and was downgraded to a 7.5t.

HGVs have bigger the bigger wheels as well.

you will find that everything over 3.5 tonnes will be classed as HGV on the log book.It means nothing.
