Does anyone have any idea what mpg I would get from a hired Marlborough-style horsebox with one 16hh MW horse in it, please? I'm trying to work out if it's cheaper to hire and collect or have delivered.

Many thanks :)

hi, prob not much help but i found it absoultely brilliant on fuel when i hired one, though cant tell you exactly the mpg. all i know is i did a return trip to the yard, then vets then to petrol station, i reckon it was over 85 miles and i put 15 pounds in to fill it back up. only thing i'd say is i've borrowed one in past and if the past user has been a bit cheeky and got away with not quite filling it up properly you could get done over a bit!

Yep should get around 30mpg

Mind you the transporters and racing yards that use them get around 10mpg as they are often doing 90mph passing us on the a14 :-0
