Is EVA (I think) matting sufficient for the lower half of the horsebox walls. I thought I was getting black stokboard?? but been to see it today and its rubber

not if you have one on that kicks. i thought i was getting stokbord (having said that i have one that tries to dismantle the box when i take his mate away), and he kicked a hole in the foam stuff in about 5 minutes. i've now had it all covered with stokbord...
for the polite ones who don't kick, foam's fine!

What is the rubber matting fixed on to?
IT may be board of some type behind it, not just a sheet of ally.

mmm not sure, its a reputable company doing the box but its being done on a budget and I thought it was a way of them cutting costs??? Im probably just worrying ... as usual

My horse is now a nervous traveller after trying him in a trailer and I said I was concerned he could come through the side but the builder looked at me like I was nuts

we use EVA wall matting abou 14mm thick, its fabulous becase it is light weight, strong and shock absorbent and BTW is not cheap either, most companies have moved away from stockboard and on
to EVA matting becase a)its heavy (payload issues) and b) it buckles in the heat Ie. if direct sunlight shines onto it.

I spoke to builder today about my concerns, he said he doesnt use stokboard anymore and the box I had seen of his prior to ordering mine had EVA matting and he would show it me again if I didnt believe him. He also said he could reinforce it with bars?? and I am to go and see him and he will show me but in his opinion it just didnt need it.
God what am I like, worry, worry, worry.
It doesnt help when everyone is telling me 'its just too cheap, there must be something wrong'

Price will also depend on the age of base vehicle, and extras such asgeneraotrs, cocktail cabinets, pop outs, flat screen tv.dvd players, cctv cameras, radio cd players, luxury upholstery, cooker, fridge, electrical systems , multicolour graphics etc. These can add thousands on to cost of a lorry, SO if your accessory list is short and basic, it may seem a less expensive lorry than some advertised.

Thats what I keep saying but have given up with said people.
I didnt approach this company to have a box built as I thought I couldnt afford it, I rang them for advice on one of theres Id seen 2nd hand for sale elsewhere and it just materialised from there.
I asked for a very basic day living but a safe horse area. Im getting a L shaped seat, table, one base unit with small hob and sink in it and a horse area up to the normal spec they do. Its one colour with no fancy extras, I'd love the works but we just cant afford or justify it. Theres no generator, tv, heating, etc etc. It is a good price and I too thought 'yeah right' but its nearly done and its looking great.
Thanks for replying.
