I think your going to have major probs fiding insurance! I always thought that they didn't do it for under 21s but may stand to be corrected!

Unfortunately pretty sure you cannot get insured under 21.... I had to wait before getting my 3.5t box as insurance just wasnt possible...

Well thats abit silly, it what your saying is true..
You are allowed to drive up to 3.5tonnes laden on a standard driving licence, surely some company must insure the younger drivers...

If thats not the case it looks like my horse is going nowhere this year! boo hoo...

try Four counties insurance they were great for my 3.5ton lorry even though im 25 i have a DD on my license (yes i know naughty girl) and also my friend who is 23 is on the policy !!

Try the NFU. I got insured with them when I was twenty to drive 7.5 ton lorry but that was 9 years ago! Totally recommed them though as cheap but good service. Also know of a girl aged 19 who has just passed her 3.5 ton test and was at event at the weekend so must have insurance!

you dont need to tack a test to drive a 3.5ton though its on your license after you pass your driving test !!

Wether you are entitled to drive a 3.5ton box does not matter to an Insurance Company.....they base their premiums on age groups & post codes. I'm afraid people under 21 years are considered a poor risk & many will not offer to insure. If you find one your premium is likely to be high. Only way round it may be to have one of your parents insure the lorry with you as a named driver? I'm afraid the antic of some young drivers effect others insurance premiums.

Thanks for the input Toby, I am aware that the premium is likely to be sky high if i am on the insurance, my thought was the same as yours to be put on the insurance as a named driver but most companys still will not allow that..
Its a shame that the bad young drivers put our insurance premiums so high... I guess ill be waiting another 3 years until I can drive it. *sobs*
