I advertised my horsebox a few months ago and havent had any interedt at all. I reduced it by 2k.......still no interest.
Its a good price for what it is but i havent had any viewings, just time wasters with their messages!

Is the market for Horseboxes generally slow, is it the wrong time of year to advertise?

very slow indeed, actually pretty much stopped, most people opting for trailers cost and maintenance wise. We bought a nice MAN in April, pricey for it's age but we wanted a specific layout and must haves. On the other hand, our old super reliable, years MOT 7.5t hasn't had a sniff since April, not prepared to give it away free but wanted £1 or 2k for it as it stands, people just dont seem to want them or cannot afford them.

I have a friend actively looking for a 3.5t, but the prices seem ridiculous, and all over the place. One company quoted her £32k for a new build, or £31k for one that was built last year - both on the same age chassis. I don't understand.

I sold mine just over two years ago, and looking now, people are trying to sell the same age vehicle for more money then I sold mine. Even though it's now two years older.

Think people are opting for trailers now. I sold my 3.5 tonne at the start of the year and got a trailer, I just didn’t want the constant costs of an MOT and tax and there were always repairs to do. Trailers are so much easier and cheaper to keep, I think the cost of living going up has a lot to do with it and less people are out showing now which doesn’t help either. My box wasn’t being used as much towards the end of me owning and then the mean us into starting issues and mechanical problems. They need to be used weekly to be cost effective IMO.

Have you tried a Horsebox dealer?

Following with interest as we are tentatively thinking of selling our 3.5ton and replacing with a trailer. We would need to research capable towing cars though as current one is too small.
