ok i need your help!! what would you deem an acceptable mileage on a 2nd hand box????? (my budget is 5-10k if that helps) i just phoned up one that looked goregous (L reg 7.5 ton daf 45) that had 250k on it!!! i think that is a bit much????? current lorry has 100k on it which im told isnt to bad????

Milage is less of a problem than the general condition of the lorry . Rust is the big killer of modern trucks. Whatever you do, get a mechanic to check it over.

250k on an L reg is nothing, converted to miles it is approx 156,250. Agree with mike007 that it is the general condition of the lorry that counts. Also remember that as a horsebox you will not be racking up as many Kilometers/miles.

The first Iveco I purchased was 5 years old and had around 245k on the clock, in the three and a half years I had it I probably only put about 20k on it. It was an ex fleet lorry that had been regularly maintained/serviced and never once gave me any trouble.

Unless there is suporting documentation Ie service logs I would take no notice whatsoever its VERY common for the tacho heads to be repaced and milage lost

250k would sound low for a L reg 1994 unless its been a horse box for a long time.. but if it is genuine then its a very low mileage lorry ...my 2004 has done 359,000km (just run in

My horse box is 30 years old and has had three owners from new. It has done 60,000 miles from new!

Low mileage can also mean a problem, I found myself a really gr8 lorry now, but was looking for nearly 3 months, as i knew what i wanted, & people can be ***** when selling....
@ 240 km it's not even run in yet, as long as it's had all the services, been looked after, don't forget these lorries are rebust as hell
