Horsebox owners - how do you secure your ramp?

Question realy - went for a fab ride last night over the forest... got back to box just as 2 rather unsavoury characters were looking round the box - in tow with their fully laden scrap wagon.... got me a little concerned - ok i had the keys - with one of those electric fobs that has to match - had also got the isolater with me - bit heavy but in a bum bag - their was nothing except a pair of steps and a water container in the lockers - which were locked up.

What does everyone else do?
 
Its a worry if you haven't got a willing partner to sit in cab while you ride:D
I just lock everything up,and then I have a small padlock I secure through my latch. They could easily bolt crop it, but t is enough to deter an oportunist.
 
I padlock the latches when I am away from the lorry tbh it would only deter the oportunist but is better than nothing.
 
Blimey! You can tell you lot don't live in Cornwall!! :)

The actual ramp of my lorry isn't locked, but the door from the horse bit to the living is lockable, and it is a sliding catch that you can only unlock from the living side. Everything else is just locked with keys - which I'm sure wouldn't take anyone much to get into if they were determined.

If I'm out from home I usually leave the ramp down and just lock the door from the horses to the living - then they can see that there's nothing of interest to nick!

At home the lorry is parked behind my dad's work van, so it can't be got out of with his van in place, and the ramp (side ramp) is tight up against the hedge and you can't get it down.

I am really bad at remembering to lock the living door when it is at home though I have to admit...
 
Post code the roof of the lorry in large text just in case they steell your lorry. It can then be identified from the air while moving or parked up.

You could always have a padlock box fitted (a box which protects the padlock from being ground of) so that the ramp can be padlocked closed.

Good idea....however someone determined WILL just cut it off.

I dispair sometimes, we run a shoot and try out hardest to secure everything - £800 worth of padlocks, lock boxes, etc etc etc.

Imagine how gutted we were to be broken into. Fast forwards a year, with all equipment replaced, £1600 of padlocks, one inch thick lock boxes etc etc etc.....to get that phone call again.

Its sickening to walk down the lane, knowing your hard work has gone, then to see that not only did they cut the lock boxes off with oxyacetaline torches, they 'played around' and cut holes in other things too.

I am now going for the route of protect as much as possible - knowing that if you do that, at least the insurance will pay out....the b*st*rds WILL keep going.
