Hello All

I am considering purchasing a horsebox and have no idea of the running costs i.e. plating and tax etc. I have always previously used trailers!

I would really appreciate any information regarding costs.

Many Thanks

Well mine always costs me between £800-£1,000 to plait, but I get it serviced to. My insurance & Breakdown is about £380.00.

Plating costs and major service for mine cost about the same as Madam Max paid. My insurance including breakdown is about £570 and is for any driver over 25.

Costs me between £70 - £80 to fill it with diesel and have no idea how many miles I get to that, dont want to work it out, I just keep putting it in!

Thanks for the info, its not actually as expensive as I thought it would all be. Some people have been trying to put me off saying the costs were really high and I was far better off with a trailer!! I would much rather a lorry though as I show alot and would benefit from the living in a lorry!!

I have an older lorry (more then 20 years old).

servicing costs £20 an hour and is about 6 hours a year (3 hours a time give or take a bit) so £120 plus any parts i need (never needed them anyway).
Its never needed anything major doing (oil changes, feul filters cleaning) and weve never had a breakdown.
costs £300 to insure for any driver over 25 inculuding full breakdown cover.
