I'm looking into various providers of horsebox rescue for my 3.5t.

Until now I have relied on my AA cover (I checked that the AA would deal with the vehicle) and as I was only really doing local stuff I figured I had enough horsey and farmer friends that someone would be able to come and collect the horse for me.

However I've started doing a bit of team chasing which involves venturing much further from home, so I'm thinking that a specialist horsebox rescue is the way to go.

I'm most taken with PRP/OHTO - does anyone have any experiences/opinions to share please? I need to sort something before sunday, as I'm off to the Berkely and I don't think any of my friends will fancy trekking halfway down the M5 to rescue me if I break down!

You cannot get any better than Equine Rescue Services.

Dedicated control room with people that actually KNOW about horses. Helpful and always on the phone checking everything is happening for you.

Fresh horse transport to take your horse home

Cannot fault them

I use PRP (were OHTO). I've never had to use them, thankfully, so can't comment on that side of things but I did have a shop around and they were cheapest. I'd heard good things about the rescue side of things or wouldn't have considered them just for the sake of price.

As an AA Member you will get a discount from PRP. I've had them out for a wheel change twice, not had to have horses or stock recovered but I believe they must be much better than sitting at the side of the road for 5 hours with in lamb ewes on board when I was told Landrover Assistance wouldn't assist me with sheep in the trailer. (Silly me!) and then paying a fortune to a commercial breakdown company who would.

PRP have always been great on the phone. They will also cover two different vehicles for you. (We had a van and Landy and numerous trailers so it was really useful).
