As title, my lorry needs the living finishing off. We have had a quote to get seating, and bed area made up. (Foam cushion seating, and bed to sleep on. I am shocked to say the least at this persons price!
I could prob do whole living for that!

So any tips, could i do it myself? Or Can you reccomend someone? We are in Cheshire.

Thanks.

I have just re-upholstered all the seating in my living area and it was dead easy and it looks great. Inside of the cushions was just foam. There will be loads of places that can cut you some pieces to size - and most will work out what size bits would be best if you just show a plan of your layout, with measurements on. For the covers I did not bother putting zips in as it is a bit of a faff (and zips are not cheap). I sewed the covers with the machine, with one end left open. i then put the foam in and hand sewed the ends shut. If I want to clean the covers I will just un-pick the hand stitched ends, take the foam out, put the covers through the machine and put everything together again. I can't see me wanting to wash them too often so it will not be too much of a pain. Give it a go, it really does only involve sewing straight lines, you can't go too wrong.

Depends how flash you're wanting it I guess. In our old wagon all our original foam seating was nicked (by some travellers no doubt!) along with numerous other things but we won't go into that!

Anyway, ours being an oldish wagon and one we just needed functional day living for, we bought some foam the right size, some plywood and some leatherette. Basically, we put the plywood on the bottom of the foam pieces and wrapped the leatherette round stapling it to the plywood. Finished result was some smart looking seating that was wipe clean!

I would certainly use the leatherette stuff asgain, ok so you wouldn't maybe use it in your house but for horseboxes, if you can't afford leather it is very handy as doesn't get damp and doesn't then absorb horsey/damp smell.

However, this obviously was on a very basic low budget scale but you can easily do similar with a bit of imagination. Guess it depends on the style of seating you want/have to start with.
