I bought a lorry this summer, and it has rubber on the ramp, with aluminium strips across.

Today was the first day I've been out in damp and foggy conditions, and the ramp was very slippery. The horses managed to get up and down it ok with the help of the horizontal strips, but humans struggled, and when my friend stood on the edge of the ramp to re-do a forelock plait she nearly had a nasty accident as she slipped off it. :(

Is there anything I can do to improve the grip, or do I need to replace the surface? What sort of cost would I be looking at? The ramp is in good condition, so I am loathe to spend loads of money on it, but of course it does need to be safe.

The ramp is up when it's not in use.

Thanks Peter. I have no idea how to go about finding replacement rubber for a horsebox ramp! I imagine it would be too expensive re delivery costs to buy on line. What thickness would I need? Am hoping this can be a DIY job to keep costs down. ;)
