I’m having a van conversion built and thinking about storage in groom area.
Obv not much space so want to use space wisely.

It’s going to be full walk through so can only have fixed items either side.

Anyone with a van conversion have suggestions or wish they did something else?

I’m thinking of opening bench’s either side but not sure about
Anything else

Thanks in advance

Hundreds more hooks or tie rings than you think you will need.
Make sure you can reach door fittings from the ground when the doors are open and that anything hung on the door won’t get caught when the door is closed.
Put some low level fittings above and below the fixed boxes. This stops stuff on the floor sliding about. You might want to secure something that is too heavy to hang up. e.g. picnic box, muck skip.
Put dividers in the storage boxes to keep small things clean and separate.
Possibly have the storage box lids divided so you don’t have to clear the whole top every time you need access. These boxes are for the least used stuff.
A tube to put whips in.
Polythene storage box to put wet, mucky stuff in on the way home.
Think carefully about where to put saddle racks. The saddle fills a large space if the rack is on the door and a pole on the door is very convenient for bashing your head on!
Check that bridle hangers are deep enough for the tack to stay on when you drive across a rough field. Nothing worse than finding a clean bridle in the muck skip.
I have put straps with clips from one fastening to another to secure a poly box on top of the fixed storage box.
