Horsebox vetting companies - any good?

I am looking for my first lorry and am well aware of my limited/non existant mechanical expertise! Im on a limited budget (6k) so think its even more important to have it checked out by someone who knows what they're looking at.

Ive seen a couple of companies advertising in H&H as horsebox 'vetters'.

Does anyone have any experience of them? Can anyone recommend one? What do they cost?

I had a VERY bad experience buying a newly built 3.5 ton on an older chassis. It cost £8k to sort out. I wound now NEVER buy a lorry or van without a mechanical check.

There is one advertised in H&H from Essex, I have spoken to him before and he is very clued up and will travel anywhere in the country to vet.

Where are you? We used Brad Hope at Bicester Horsebox Hire and he was fab. Based in Oxon but will travel. Can PM you details if you want.
