This kinda follows from my last post about a wishlist for a horsebox which we're considering buying (still need approval from BofM&D).

The height is 8', the length is 18' and the width is 7'7". So those numbers wont change. However we can split the length as we want into horse/living.
Dolls is a big girl and we wouldn't be staying overnight very often, so I thought 7' for living & 11' for horse. -How does this compare to yours?
The horse area needs to take 2 normally and 3 rarely. Is this split realistic?

11' of horse area would be plenty for three horses.

If you are planning on carrying three horses, make sure you don't put too much in the living or you could put yourself over-weight.

The living would be empty, except for a toilet (the most popular choice on the HHO wishlist), so with 2.5t to play with, it ought to be fine -we dont own 3 elephants, just the one!

Our new box is 16 feet, we have 8 feet for living and 8 feet for horses, its 8 foot wide so slightly wider than yours, this is fine for two horses or three little ponies

Is the 7ft 7in width an external measurement or internal, cos it sounds quite narrow. The maximum legal width for a horse box is 8ft 3in external making the internal width at least 7ft 11in - 8ft. depending on the thickness of stokboard you line it with. But 11 ft for the horse area would be long enough just not really sure its wide enough if your horse is quite long it will have to stand on quite a slant.

I had mine made for me due to the size of horse I have and I couldn't find a decent second hand lorry high and wide enough.

Mine is just over 8ft high and 8ft 1" (internal) wide 18ft long with horse area of 9ft so half and half.

My horse is big 17.2 and long in the body and even at 8ft 1" wide I still have to slant the partitions. so you can gauge the size of horse he wears a 7ft to 7ft 3 rug.

So think about it if a horse wears 7ft of rug that only leaves you another 7 inches of width for his neck if you only have 7ft 7" width

The 9ft length is plenty as I only ever carry 2, I actually use the front partition bit to store stuff.

Ours is about 13 feet of living space and 11 feet of horse space.

The living area would be about 7'6" wide internallycos of the thick insulated walls... truck was originally a 1/2 reefer 1/2 dry freight set up... The horse section is a touch over 8'3" inside...
Previously set up to carry 4 "normal" horses (and originally a couple of camels!) it's now set up for 3 BIG buggers straight load! Has a "hump" to lift the roof 350mm over the "normal" horse sized roof because Tobi at 17.3hh stallion likes to be able to stand normally! lol ..and the other two stallions ain't small either!
Truck is rated at about 12 1/2 tonne I think it is, so even with our fit out in the living space, the big water tank and long range fuel tanks we can add 3 700kg+ horses, yard panels and have lots of load left...and we can add the trailer behind for another few horses...

Mine is 7'6 high, 8' wide and 10'6 ish horse area length. I know someone who has a 7'6 wide box and until I got mine didnt realise that theirs were narrower. I have seen boxes with the partitions on angles to give more width, maybe if you do the horse area a bit larger you could then angle your partitions.
