I posted on here a few weeks ago about upgrading from my beloved 3.5t van conversion to a bigger lorry with living. I found the perfect size box for me, a 5t with great living/horse space BUT its noisy and heavy to drive and slow. Most importantly horses dont seem to travel as well. Dont really know as I cant see them and havent got camera connected yet but just get the impression that on arrival they are a bit wide eyed and legs spread. I know some people dont rate the little vans but mine was/is very low to the floor so stable and backwards facing, horses travelled like a rock.
Really came home this morning as I took the little van in for its mot and it was so lovely to drive!
Is there such a thing as an easy to drive, light box with decent living, no more than 20ft long, to carry max 2 14.2 connies?
Looked at the equitrek ones but they dont get good reports on here?

nicest to drive is the daf lf 7.5 ton post 2001 there are plenty of ex post office ones about with a 16 ft box would make a handy horsebox.. in the smaller 5/6 ton range the later iveco dailys (not the horrid square ones)

Thank you=will keep an eye out

The kevin parker ones look great but think they are 30k plus and can only run to 20 max really :(

I don't know about Equi-Trek horseboxes, but I have heard of more than one person having major problems with the build quality of the trailers - axle issues etc.

I'd do some good homework and find some people who have bought them to find out what they are like!

EquiTrek use Izusu chassis.

I know a bloke who is over the moon about his Isuzu horsebox (not an E-T body, though).

The Japanese lorries (Izusu; Mitsubishi-Fuso Canter; Hino; etc) are a bit smaller and lighter than European types (designed for Japanese people to drive along little Japanese roads), but can carry more weight as they are still rated with a 7.5t max.

Clever, these Japanese.

yes they do have a good payload and are cheaper than the euro chassis iveco daf etc, but they are narrow and look a bit top heavy with a 8ft wide body the parts are expensive and the cab is horrid (very cramped!!!) ive worked on a few and not that impressed!! equitrek build there 7.5 ton on them ....
