Horsehage High Fibre - Laminitics

Anybody use Horsehage High Fibre for their laminitics.

My girl has soaked hay, but at this moment in time am struggling to soak it and rinse it due to this cold weather, so was looking into the Horsehage.....

All answer would be greatly appreciated.....Thankies...
 
My 2 are on this and the green Ryegrass bales at the moment- it says on the High Fibre bags that it's low sugar and energy and has the hoofkind logo, so I'm guessing it must be ok for laminitics- it's what they give the horses that eat haylage at one of the big horspitals I know of too.

My youngster is on soaked hay too in this bad weather- it's a real lot of work damping it and draining it (so I can sympathise!), but he would find haylage a bit too rich.

TBH if I was feeding a laminitic I would feed soaked hay, but that's just my opinion and what I'd do!

I really not sure if I want to change her to this, just wanted to see what people thought of it and who used it TBH...... I don't want to tip the scale when she is doing ok, as you say it is hard work, but if it keeps her safe and sound then I'm happy to keep doing it...
 
My mare has had lami in the past and When the snow first came I started feeding this as couldnt get hold of any hay, she went very pottery in a few day of being on it. She a sugar intollerance as well so cant have anything with molasses in at all. I got hold of a big bale of hay in the end and took her off the haylage. All is fine now and she is trotting around the field again thankgod :).
 
Rather than the hi fibre blue bag one which is still rye grass just from a later cut and processed slightly differently, you may want to look into the Timothy grass option in a purple bag.
I know a couple of people with laminitics who managed to feed this successfully.
 
My laminitic is fine on it, have had to use it this year as I couldn't get any hay in due to the snow and soaking is pratically impossible.
Having said that, what suits one doesn't suit another, I think a lot depends on the individual horse.
 
I normally soak hay for 12hours for my laminitic but in this weather I can only soak it for about 4hours, then I drain it and put it in the garage for a few hours so it doesn't freeze. I have to bring the haynets home and soak them as the tap at the yard is frozen and its getting a real bind.
