horsehage

I use it all the time instead of hay (in-fact that and chaff and mix) are all he gets to eat (though he does live out 24/7). I have found it brilliant and very good quality. Personally I used the blue Horsehage till the grass started to go down in quantity in the field and then we moved to the green horsehage. My boy is a youngster though and so he needs the extra nutrients in the green. Personally for general use I would use the blue or the purple (if he/she doesn't like the blue).

I also feed as much as he will eat (generally 2-3 slices a day) and it comes out about the same as hay as he eats more hay than horsehage and takes longer to eat the horsehage.

Hope this helps.

Thanks rocky 1. I am going to be moving back to the uk in september and will be DIYing my horse. Am trying to fix a budget of how much everything will cost per month.
I am looking at feeding horsehage as I think the bale sizes are practical and it does seem to be very good quality.
Mine wouldn't be out at grass so much. Only a couple of hours per day and I would really like him to have access to ad lib forage so I was looking at either the purple or the blue.
