My horses has come down with Laminitis for the first time. He is getting better. I've been feeding him old hay, normally he has haylage. I was soaking it for 12 hrs after a few days he stopped eating it, so i gave it him dry for a day and he ate it again. But today he has slight cough and white snot. I'm going to ring the vet tomorrow but just wondered if Horsehage would be ok, if it's not one thing its another :-(

I'm not sure if it is suitable so I'm afraid I cant help you their, but if it isn't I would suggest using a reallyyy good quality Hay, iv never been happy feeding my horses hay before now as iv been used to feeding average quality hay, but after moving onto a livery yard and seeing the hay they have my horses are now on hay over the summer as it is really nice!

sorry to hear about your horse, I hope hes better very soon.

Ive feed the green ryegrass one and my horse loves it ... They have a high fibre one for lami prones! Should tell you all the info on there website if that helps :)

I am pretty sure both the timothy and high fibre horsehages say on the bag they are suitable for laminitics. I feed the timothy and my horse is very fussy but loves it.

Hi sorry to put you off but I moved my laminitc pony onto Horsehage, the blue one for laminitcs and he soon went laminitic again. He is particularly sensitive so it doesn't mean yours definitely would, but personally I would be very cautious introducing it. I introduced it slowly replacing the hay with it, and a week and a half later his pulses started up again. I know exactly how you feel because my boy wasn't too keen on the soaked hay but he has got used to it now. Personally I would perservere with it until he his 100% on his feet.

I just feed him a few handfuls of the horsehage for a treat now, they do seem to really enjoy it.....

I also dont want to put you off but just keep and eye on your horse when you first give it to him if you do as my horse is allergic to it and it caused her to choke apparently its sonmething to do with and ingrediant they use which effects very very few horses but mine seems to be one I also heard of another horse doing the same on it.

Thanks everyone, I've had some better hay delivered today and he seems to like it soaked upto now. The hay he was having was really poor quality. He is impoving now so i'll give him little and often of the new hay soaked. If there is even a small chance of a reaction by feeding Horsehage i'll steer clear. The luck i'm having just lately is not worth the risk. Thanks again x
