Potentially looking at feeding hay mixed with horsehage, the fibre one (need low protein) to try and get some damn weight on my horse! He's an extremely fussy eater but has loved haylage in the past.

Anyone fed this? Is it worth it? Or would I be better off buying BIG haylage? Trouble with that is, I don't know the protein levels if I buy from a farmer, and that's a MUST with him. At least with HorseHage they have their analysis on their website.

I think you mean the High Fibre blue one and if so I know quite a few horses who refused to eat this last year after having eaten it previously. My 3 won't touch it at all and never have done but other liveries bought it last winter and all ended up throwing or giving it away. It was possibly only last winter's supply but I'd just get a bale in to try before ordering in bulk.

I've also had a nutritionist recently pass a comment about what's in it as they don't know any horses that do well on it but of course that could be taken with a pinch of salt.

The High Fibre one is low calorie though and designed not to put weight on so I'm not sure if you'll achieve your aim - it's probably lower calorie than your hay so you'd be better of feeding more hay. The green one (can't remember what it's called) is designed for weight gain and might be more palatable but might not fit your protein needs.
