Im looking to cover my new horsebox for additional breakdown cover and have found an Antony D Evans who looks to do what seems a reasonable deal ....anyone on here had dealings with him before I go ahead? Seems ok but having lurked and seen a few horror stories thought I may as well ask you guys first!

Thanks

When I had my lorry I used them for my lorry insurance and also had their breakdown cover.

They were always very good but basically when you phone them they just contact a local garage to where you are to go out and help you. The level of cover did decline over the years - latterly I was only covered for when the lorry wasn't 'at home' ie.not covered for when it wouldn't start at the yard).

Check their current policy but I certainly had no horror story when with them.

I have cover with them as they seem to be the best value. Luckily I've only had to use them once when my old lorry broke down with a horse on board. It was a bank holiday Monday but the rescue lorry arrived within about 45 minutes and it was all dealt with extremely efficiently.

I don't think you are covered for "at home" incidents - but for me it provides peace of mind when I'm actually away from home with a horse loaded. If the lorry doesn't start in the morning it's a pain but not as bad as being stranded en route.

lol Topstripe and thanks to others! Their price was the best and cheaper than my last lorry but then its a newer lorry! Will no doubt go ahead with it now :D

Ive taken the full cover that NFU offer along with my insurance. It has probably doubled my premium but I think its something you have to have. I cant imagine anything worse than breaking down with a horse on board. I didnt need everything they offered, like overnight stabling but they only do one package. I did ask that if I did break down and needed alternative transport then it had to be a wagon and not a trailer. They said this was standard. I hope I never need it.

Have pm'd you!

Check the SMALL PRINT!!!!!! On their website it states THEY WILL TOW YOU with your horses on board!

I remember HH doing an article or ask the expert thing where a solicitor said that this was not legal to do.

Certainly you would not see me having my lorry winched up with my best friends on board thats for sure. I would muller the recovery guy!

I use Equine Rescue Services-they actually know about horses and will look after you. They will also send out a horse transporter to pick up your horses and take them home for you whilst the wrecker comes and tows your lorry EMPTY.

I'm with Anthony Evans. Had to use them once when I had a tyre blow out on way home from show late at night. They were very good, quick to come out - unfortunately the bolts holding my spare were rusted so couldn't get it undone, so the guy went off and came back about 5 minutes later with a new tyre which he fitted.
