Do you think it would be ok for me to get my daughters little fat Welsh Sec A a horselyx? just for licking now and then or are they dangerous for little fat ponies. I can't imagine a little lick per day could do any harm can it?
He is on resticted grazing at mo and isnt massively overweight just a little bit, its just he has tried MOBILITY and loves it, I definately wouldn't leave it in his stable, I think he would eat the lot.

I think a horslyx might just keep little pony occupied so that it takes his mind of the grass (if only for a while)
I have a huge highland who broke out of his stable some years ago and helped himself to one of those big square molassed licks. Didnt do him any harm but I wont be buying one for him. We tend to give our horses a mineral lick in the summer when its really hot. they seem to like them more than in winter.

How do you know he will only have a little lick per day and not eat the whole thing? I'm sure they do a low sugar version though.

There was a stand at Badminton offering low-sugar "Herbilix" or something, I'm just about to order one. I don't suppose I'm allowed to post the name of the company on here but will PM it to you if you want. Only drawback is that they are HUGE!

Oh I wont be leaving it in his stable, or he would eat the whole thing, I meant when he is tied up or being groomed just to keep him occupied while I am mucking out etc...
