Can anyone recommend any decent courses in Horsemanship, Behaviour, Pyschology etc? I back and train horses and deal with problem cases and ex-racehorses, I've got a BSc degree in Equine Science/Management but would like to add a bit more to my qualifications. I've worked with interesting western trainers in Colorado and visited Monty Roberts' farm in California, and have developed my own style, but I would like to study it more and get input from various trainers/specialists and refine my own methods. I'm particularly interested in the science behind it, and the study of wild herd behaviour and how it can be applied to domestic horse use including competition animals not just pets.

If you google it there are tons of courses but a lot of them seem either a bit fluffy or a bit ambiguous. At the moment I'm incapacitated following an accident, so a distance-learning or coursework based course would be ideal, but once I'm back on my feet I can travel in the UK or to the US and do more practical training.

I also don't really want to follow a set path - i.e. becoming a representative of a brand/trainer - I'd rather do my own thing.

Anyone have any recommendations/experiences to share? :)

There's a trainer on here called Sarah Weston. She was trained by Kelly marks. Might be worth sending her a msg. She goes under logical horsemanship for her work. She is brilliant, had her out to my rearing youngster last yr

After recently discovering his books, I emailed Joe Camp asking for some advice about something and he was very helpful.
He's in the "research the methods of others and then do what works best for you" mindset.
He seems to have taken from various NH trainers and then developed his own ideas regarding his horses.

He might know of something online maybe...
