As a novice to the wonderful world of equines I just wondered whose book/DVD you would recommend on horsemanship and more preferably training. I have been online/YouTube and watched a few clips of various people but a lot seem to differ in their views. So is there anyone who you would say would be best for the first time pony owner, preferably somebody not too technical !

Many thanks.

If you don't want technical I would read some of the early Mark Rashid books. It is like a fireside chat, but with a whole load of info seeping through!

What red-1 said, have read all the mark rashid books and they're brilliant! Not necessarily a technique just really gets your mind thinking about what is right and how the horse will feel, they're also told like stories with info in them so are actually a really interesting and nice read

Mark rashid books are very good as previous posters have said. If you are looking for more technique have a look at richard maxwell, michael peace and Warwick Schiller.

Best of luck
