Do you think the "wanted" ads on Horsequest actually work? Looking for a new horse for loan and whilst I appreciate most people prefer to loan to someone local, clearly not everyone does as there are lots of "for loan" ads up.

Earlier in the week someone on here suggested putting a "wanted" ad up for a loan horse. Do you think it's really worth it, or will it be £50 or whatever HQ is now, just wasted?

Do you think owners even look at them? I know I didn't when I put my boy on loan last year....

Got to be worth I go I guess hasn't it!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all the spare time!!

There are quite a few adverts on Horsemart, and I found a loan pony that way (I advertised for companion wanted and the owner contacted me), but to be fair it is a lot easier to find a companion horse than a ridden one. I would think it's worth a try though, especially on a cheap site and especially if you work the advert out really carefully and put yourself across really well as a potential loaner. If you are willing to take on a slightly more demanding horse, e.g. not novice ride, or deal with some health issues, or do some schooling, I would certainly make that very clear to make yourself more attractive to owners.

Yes! it works! Put ad in for wanted on loan, vtb, had loads of quality animals offered was spoilt for choice and wanted ads are only £10

We put a wanted ad in when a friend and I were looking for a show cob a few years ago - we had quite a few responses and ended up buying one as a result of the ad - so yes, they do work.

I don't want VTB though so guess that might make a difference?
