Hi, it looks like I'm possibly having a Caesarian section next month as baby's not budging from her transverse position.
I'm prepping eventing up the yard as much as i can, ie. brought all hay and stocking up on bedding.
I'm planning on having them roam in and out of the stables with hay nets up and a bit of bedding down and of course horses rugged up. I'm only locking them in bad nights.
Hubby is going to do my bit with my mums help who has a horse as well, I've got two. But when can I expect to get up there just to see them and then start to muck out and then ride?
And is there anything else I can do to prepare them before I have baby? :)

Hiya,
I had 2 C sections. The first was an emergency. The second was a planned. That was much nicer!
I was back at the yard the second time in about 1 week but just to see them, not to do anything. I was gently mucking out after about 3 wks, but nothing heavy (no water buckets!). I was riding again at 5 wks, but it was difficult to get up and down. Once in the saddle, as long as your horse isn't too strong, it was ok.
But try not to rush it. Everyones different, and it is a big op. I've never been one to sit still for long. I probably should have waited longer.
Theres not really anything else you can prepare now. Sounds like you've done it all :).
Congratulations anyway on your new baby x

I had an emergency c section in November and it actually didn't cause too many problems at all. The first few days were a bit sore but I was back poo picking and pushing wheelbarrows after about a week although being careful. You have to just take it as steady as your body tells you to.

Best of luck!!

I was also in pretty good shape after about a week. I think it probably depends how fit you are beforehand. I was still going to the gym three times a week up to my due date and only put 22lbs on so bounced back pretty well.

Put in this way, I was in much better shape than my friends who had stitches down there to cope with afterwards... :o

Thats good to hear thanks. I've done quite well and only put 1&3/4 stone on so far and I was quite fit before as well, so hopefully it will be a quick recovery.

I had an emergency c-section in march, luckily mine are at home so its not too far to wander gingerly down to the bottom of the garden! I was skipping out after a fortnight with husband on wheelbarrow emptying duty, then back in the saddle after 5 weeks - very carefully :D It's great you have help from mum and hubby, don't overdo it trying to get back to it though. It is a major operation and you need plenty of time to heal and cuddle your new baby :) Have you thought about a freelance groom? They could come in for a couple of weeks which would take the pressure off.

I'd love a freelance groom but I have to save money for my year off work. I'm planning on putting one of the horses on part loan ASAP so hopefully that will keep that one ticking over. The other two are retired and not yet broken so their quite easy to deal with.

Like others I was able to do very light mucking out after 3 weeks.

The only bit of advice I have is, get walking as soon as you can, I had mini at 3pm and was up and walking around the next morning, it really did help, although it did feel like my insides were going to fall out at first!!!

And also take your pain killers on the dot, even if you feel you don't need them.

Good luck, it really is not that bad :)
