Hey
I help out at a stud where I keep Oscar. Some of the horses are coming down with snotty noses and/or coughs.

We have spoken to the vets who say there is lots of colds going around in the area and many horse have been affected. She has given us some Noradine (?) and says they should recover themselves. However contact them again if it gets worse.

Just wonder what your experiances of coughs and colds were as I have never had to deal with this before.

Any tips on how to help them recover too would be appriciated.

Espically as the broodmares are due to start delivering in 2 weeks :(

Thanks for reading :)

Hi

Mine has a cold at the moment too. She has yellow snot coming down one nostril which is sometimes more watery than others. My vet said it's probably viral and antib's (Norodine) therefore may not help. (The only time she's ever had yellow snot was when she had a sinus infection about 10 years ago, and the snot STANK, but not this time.)

I left it for a couple of days, as the vet suggested, to see if it started to clear up by itself, which it didn't. So then I asked for a course of antib's just to try and clear it up. She's 31 and I don't like things lingering. Whether or not the Norodine will actually help, I don't know, but it's worth a go.
