Horses and feed times

My old loan horse was( and still is!!) very possessive over food both in the stable and in the field so we leave him to it as much as possible because it stresses him out nd there is alot of kicking out ,dancing about ,one leg up in air behaviour(hes 23 so not going to change) . My current horse is happy to have anyone when he is eating which is good as he tends to spread it over a wide area if left completely alone so more often than not I end up holding onto the bucket while he is eating

B doesn't mind being fiddle with whilst eating but if left alone he seems to zone out and then when he notices your there, he jumps out of skin!!

I would rather they were left alone while eatong, but still expect them to be toleant should you need to do something while they are eating. For example, today I had very limited time and needed to get a rug off, so did it whilst she was eating. Otherwise, I would prefer to leave them until they have finished.
Who here likes someone doing something to them or being disturbed while they are eating?
