I'm a serial lurker on here and I don't tend to post much of anything here, but was looking for opinions.

I'm in a long distance relationship with my OH. So sometimes he comes down and stays with me and sometimes I go up to his. Normally he comes down for a few weeks but I never stay at his longer than a week because of my horse it's usually 4/5 days.

But iv been feeling like iv been 'abandoning' the horse (amey) and going his.. I'm normally away once or twice a month for normally 4/5 days. When he's at mine we spend lots of time with amey.

Of course when im away she's left in the best care and is exercised as normal by my mum, who pampers her more than me anyway!

OH understand she comes first and never complains when I say im not coming his for a good few weeks to spend time with amey. It's always my choice to go.

But should I feel bad for leaving her to spend time with him? I do feel a little bad as I'm not used to leaving her apart from when I go abroad..?

I can understand your worry, suppose its like leaving a child!
If your mum pampers her a lot, then she probably looks forward to you going away! It's not like your leaving her in a field to fend for her self all week, so I wouldn't worry! Tell your OH to pack his stuff and move to your area permanently! :D

Thanks for the posts :D

It's been hard for me to juggle the OH and horse seems iv been single for so long!

The plan eventually is OH to move closer! It's just finding the money :).

Sounds like you're doing really well! Your horse sounds like she is well cared for while you are away, so I wouldn't worry. You have a right to be happy and your OH sounds like a great guy, so in the long run you are doing the best for yourself and your horse (and future horses).
I had a long distance relationship which meant we got to spend most of our weekends together but not all - I had a horse on loan and she really helped me through the times when I missed my OH. Eventually we both had to relocate so we could find jobs... he is now my husband and we have a lovely son - and a very happy horse!
