My horse obviously got trodden on this morning and has lost about 50p's worth of skin just above his coronet band. What's the best thing to put on it? It hardly bled and there is still hair growing out of the skin. I washed it and purple sprayed it.

Should I put anything else on?

aloe vera gel is really good if you have any, if not then what you have done is fine

Hi - purple spray with aleo is wonderful stuff. Sounds like you've done the right thing so far as everyone else is advising you, keep it clean and keep spraying that purple spray on. If you think it's really quite deep you could try to source some intrasite gel it's very good stuff for deep wounds.

Its not deep - just like someone has cut out the top 2 or 3 layers of skin and peeled them off!!

I had to laugh this morning... I let him out with purple headcollar, purple rug and purple leg. At least he's colour co-ordinated!!

Funny that - exactly the same thing happened to Jerry today! I brought him in tonight and noticed blood on his off- hind hoof. Knowing hooves don't bleed, I looked more closely to see a good slice of skin missing! I have cleaned in, hosed it and put purple spray and barrier wound cream on. He is in tonight though so hopefully it will be ok to put him out tomorrow.

Must be something in the air, as one of ours came in like this yesterday morning as well! Hibiscrubbed it, wasn't deep, just like a layer had been taken off as others have mentioned. Then put some spray on and she seemed fine last night.
