Horses belong in the country...

It's not an article, just a letter from some inbred fool. Pretty sure it would have made the news if a horse had actually booted a resident. Just an uninformed numpty spouting rubbish, probably the type who writes a letter a week to the paper.

Apparently it did happen and the rider didn't stop (I say apparently, I wasn't there :P) and if that is true, then it's appalling. But saying all horse riders are like that is nearly as bad!

What a cheerful little soul... Whoever wrote that!

I have plenty of lanes and bridleways where I am but I still ride through the park, through the town and down to the estate where my parents live, no one ever grumbles or scowls at me, quite the opposite, they love seeing the horses out and about and always want to make a fuss of them. God wherever the writer lives must be a miserable place lol!

"Horses should remain in their fields and the countryside, which is where they are meant to be."

Yes, very good, well done..

If I wanted to be awkward I would say that horses are still in the country/fields, or would be if the housing associations, builders and councils stopped building bloody housing estates and roads where the country used to be........

Just a thought..

Yes, this is what I was about to say. Not to mention the fact that our countryside is now filled with folks who think its fine to wander about off the right of way, leave gates open, allow dogs to chase stock, chop down trees and leave litter! Perhaps they should stay in their towns where they are meant to be?

Can't understand the lack of tolerance from some people, we could all get along nicely with a bit of consideration from all parties, the public highway is not meant exclusively for the residents, others have a right to use it too!

Maybe the fact that there are so many horses in the urban areas is the fact that the government keep insisting on building more houses so villages are now becoming towns and extending into the green belt? Money does talk!!

Because "Bassaleg" just sounds like a sheer metropolis, doesn't it?! A bit like Kensington or something...oops wait, you get plenty of horses there, right in central London!

Ha sorry this bit made me chukkle, mum was telling me how this person was very cleaver and that they get letters published in the paper all the time, I said he was an opinionated muppet with to much time on his hands :p:D.

I once had a dog walker grab my horse and try to pull me off, having let my partner go past without any problem, if I'd been able to knock him over I would have ridden on without a second thought! We all have to co exist, so why do people get so upset about riders? we would definatley rather ride off road, away from anyone else, but often don't have the choice.
