How long does it usually take to travel (with a reputable transporter) if pony leaves Ireland Tuesday when would you expect them to arrive at their destination?
Northern Ireland to Essex...

I guess they stop for an overnighter for both horses and driver to rest.

I am really really getting excited now... this week I will once again have another horse I have waited almost 2 years for this to happen I am bouncing more than Tigger lol :D :D :D :D :D

12 hours I'd say - boat from Belfast so driver rests/waters and hays horses before boat departs I presume ??? Then drive from scotland straight through - depends how many drop offs. My horse went from Belfast to Chester and he was one of the last off and he was there the following morning before lunch IIRC. When he came home he was collected at lunch and arrived back that night to transporters yard and collected following day - its a lot quicker/smoother process that you'd think - I thought it was a major haul but its not at all. I can recommend 2 very good transporters - PM me

Mine came from Northern Ireland to Surrey when we moved back to England. They went from Belfast to Scotland where they drove down the the border for an overnight stop.

I think they arrived in Surrey about 7pm the next day. Will completely depend how many pick ups and drop offs they do on the way down.

well I have heard on the grape vine that he is setting off Tuesday not sure how many drop off's there are or what time they leave Tuesday as yet, but my yard owner cannot be at the yard Weds to take delivery of him so I really do hope he arrives either early hours Thursday am or during the day Thursday.

You either need to let the transporter know or make other arrangements to be there if necessary! Have you asked the transporter for an eta?

Through the 'grape vine'????

Surely the transporter has contacted you direct to let you know when your horse is being picked up and delivered to you and where it is resting!

Hope your horse is travelling via a legal transporter not one of the 55 caught by Wrexham trading standards that weren't legal!

The transporter by law should be telling you when to expect delivery as they have to legally deliver to an over 18 year old!

whats the transporters name if its the one am thinking of there in scotland then stay at kelso over night then travel on to there final home

Hope he arrives safely. A good transporter will let you know when he is picking up, usually contacts you once they are safely onboard and will give you an approximate time for arrival. Ring you transporter and find out for sure that way you can be sure of who will be there when he turns up.

ha ha cheers peeps, his owner is dealing with the transporter and he is a very reputable one at that, the transporter now has both mine and YO's contact numbers I will find out today for sure when he is due, I think he will leave tomorrow and arrive Thursday with me.

As he is on loan, the owner is dealing with it all and passing all relevent info onto me.

He had to wait yest for him to get paperwork sorted from the authorities for horse to travel.
He everything goes well for him, the lorries are usually quite large too aren't they?, so getting into the yard could be interesting...

oh well, find out today so.....

It is, very nice there! I used to school a horse that was kept there a few years ago. A friend of mine keeps her two lads there :)

Oh really, who are they? You'll have to come up then at some point soon come meet Mr Toby :)

Hacking looks really good from there, I will invest in a permit for East Anglian rides perhaps next month, its an expensive month for me this month, have to get everything new again! lol... not such a bad thing mind lol

Couple if things- ours are often on lorry for 24 hours on route, they take a couple of days to get over the journey. Also ask if they will provide a tail guard, not a bandage! It always amazes me how many come off the lorry with half a tail missing. Be prepared for a very late night waiting and also if you can't get a massive lorry in your yard sort somewhere on the road for them to unload!

I am going to be on standby, am off work after tomorrow waiting for his arrival, If the lorry can't get into yard luckily there is a very quite lane outside, were not by any main roads so thats good.

I do think he will be booted and bandaged up by his owner in Ireland ready for the travel.

I hope his tail won't be too badly damaged, as he has a beautiful full tail.

just have to wait and see really.
