What does your horse do that makes you crack up with laughter?

Mine holds his lead rope and will lead himself in and out from the field, he thinks he's ever so important and grown up when he does this! He also carrys my whip to and from the school :D

He likes to open peoples grooming kits and will pick up a brush by the strap and *brush* the wall or the staircase thats in our barn. He will often throw his feedbucket over his stable door so its there ready for you to fill up with his breakfast in the morning :).

If you ignore him when he's tied up he will pull over the mounting block/stable forks/wheelbarrow anything that is in his reach just to make a large crashing sound. Then when you run round the corner he's standing there so quietly and innocently with everything at his feet :D.

He does many other things too which are either hilariously funny or bloody irritating depending on what mood i'm in ;). I wouldn't change him for the world though, I love how sweet and playful he is :)

What do your horses do?! :D :D

Mine leads himself in aswell and opens grooming kits!

The best was when he picked up a broom and started sweeping outside the stable, I feel very privledged to have a horse who cleans up after himself :)

The other thing he thinks is funny is to bite your hair especially after he had his lick so you spend an hour in the shower scrubbing lick out of your hair!

You gotta love them though :D

Many things, one of them like to close the field gates with their teeth and stand their stomping if you are in a hurry and do it yourself.
Another if you leave anything near the stable door brrom, fork, he will lift it and start brushing scraping the floor.
Another if you stand outside his stable and turn your back for too long will get hold of your clothing and pull you towards him as if to remijd you of how rude it is to turn your back.
One likes to lead the oter horses in so you lead him and he takes the oter leadropes and drags them in.
Cant thing of anymore off the top of my head but sure the are many

My welsh a prances (and i really mean high knees, slower than walk, very important pony type prance! :p) to and from the field/stable/schooling field. :D

My mare will eat anything, she was convinced she wanted my OH's sausage sandwich the other day.
He said to her "Are you sure you wanna eat pig? In your case that would be cannibalism ;)"

My old part loan gelding used to throw the vet's bag across the yard with all his needles, drugs etc etc scattering everywhere :o

Same with the farrier.

My part loan mare now is SO nosy, I've never ever seen a mare so nosey - just yesterday we were cantering down the bridlepath and she spots some joggers on the opposite side of the canal - she digs her hooves in to a standstill from a canter and turns her whole body to look!
Another time, she stood and pulled branches out of the pink bin when a guy was filling it up - luckily he found it funny!
As we were out hacking we came across a flatbed truck with a layer of tarpaulin over the back - she sticks her nose under it to see what's there!!!
So many nosy Kelly stories

Mine leads himself in from the field - if he can't hold the leadrope he strops and refuses to move. He picks up his feed bowl and waggles it when he has finished, then hands it to you.

He also sighs if you take too long over something and waggles his front foot if he is getting impatient.

The old Appy used to pick me up by my plait  The current Appy turns her feed bucket upside down when she has emptied it, pulls toggles tight on my jacket and tries to get inmy pockets with her nose. We had a section a that stood on Dads shoulders one day when he was leaning with his back on her door, he was a bit surprised when her hooves came down either side of his head! :D

If I don't let my boy go as fast as he wants on hacks he starts by stamping his feet, think tantrum. Then proceeds to do a good imitation of a Spanish Walk. Gets a lot of attention from other riders on Pleasure rides. He loves to tip the wheelbarrow over when I'm poo picking.

My highland had a welsh x friend who he shared a huge "stable" with. It was a converted cow shed 48 ft long and 15 ft wide with two doors so that they could both look out. When we mucked out, the old welshie would tip the whel barrow over as soon as it was full. We thought it was my younster until we caught him doing it. The highland was always inquisitive and while we were fencing, he would come over to the pickup and steal the tools, then try to open the bonnet to see what was inside. He also used to play hide and seek with me too. They would lay down with their heads on our laps on hot days too.

My TB, Happy, used to stick his head through car windows (Discoverys, Landrovers etc) to investigate. He would then lick the car bonnets as well as try and pull the windscreen wipers off and any other bit of plastic or rubber he could find on said vehicles. Why go to Longleat Safari park to have the monkeys rip your car apart when your horse will do it at home?!!

The part Highland I used to ride would wait till I'd gone out of sight, then push over any jumps I'd left standing in his field with his nose.

Candyman is full of character. He has untied horses when tied outside his stable, picks up any tools within his reach, throws feed buckets, empties the wheelbarrow when it's full or runs off with the poo picker at the first opportunity, undoes the farriers apron while being shod, will brush you or the wall with a brush if he can get hold of it,has been known to grab a hammer that was hanging up within his reach and proceed to throw it across the yard. He also bounces while being ridden when he is feeling full of high spirits and wants to go faster than he is allowed. He loves to make people laugh. Considering how he was when I first had him and how other people considered him dangerous he has come a long way from the horse who would have you at the first opportunity to one who adores fuss and attention and will do his utmost to get it from you.

Funny thread!

I have taught my mare various tricks (as you do!) and have taught her to pour/stamp quite wildly her front leg.... So I could be stood there talking to someone and she will (if bored) stamp her leg and then look at me for the treat (of course minus my cue)! I find it so funny, though I probably wont when she kneecaps me one day!

Another thing is my mare is a bit spooky and when hacking out of a field with trees/bushes either side of the gate, she is on high alert and when she walks (hesitantly) through the gate she is like someone of out the FBI covering all exits and and scanning everywhere -

Lady takes herself to her other field after shes finished her dinner :) If anyone tries to lead her in with a leadcoller/leadrope, she will pull away and race to get there before you do :)

She also is very cheeky, when i tell her off for bullying the other horses she will pull her tongue out when i turn my back! My friend even caught it on camera!

Riding Lol the other night (17.1 TB - hopefully going to race this season) on the school everything was scary - the open door to a portable stable, the dog that ran down the muck heap and especially the stacks of haylage and shavings.

Finish riding and go and fetch a bale of shavings to go in her stable, turn my back to go and get a knife to open the bale and she's trying to pick it up - succeeding in picking it up, dropping it and knocking it over - this apparently is fun... Put the bag in her stable with her and she kindly picks it up and shakes it so it comes open - saved me finding the knife at least :D then plays with the bag while I spread the shavings for her.

However... what's the betting that if I school her tonight the bags by the side of the school become horse eaters again?

My horse was kept at a yard that specialised in Morgans who have to 'stand up' with there feet all square and stretch forward to show, he seemed to think it would be funny to copy them, which we of course thought was cute so gave him some treats. He now does it every time he thinks he should get a treat, funny but a little annoying at times!!

Haha some of these do make me laugh. Mine likes to put everything (literally everything including childrens hands) in his mouth, just feels them never bites or anything then lets them go again!!

And he strips out of his rug every night and leaves it over the door for me in the morning *sigh* - even on the freezing cold nights its his new favourite trick - I will come down in the morning and the base of his ears are cold!!

My dog pushes her tennis ball under the post & rail fence, my horses snorts at it & rolls it back to her. Every single time.

They keep other amused for hours :)

Mine also likes to grab hold of the leadrope coming in from the field - and will often hold it when he is tied up, thankfully he doesn't chew!

He's a proper 'foodie' and I used to stash his after riding carrot under my brushes in my grooming box - realised that no longer worked when a hoof pick and dandy brush came whizzing past my ear as he rifled through my kit to get the carrot.

He will also whicker and nudge you (gently!) if he thinks you're a bit slow with his after ride treat and will frisk your pockets for any hidden sweets.

Does a good line in 'starving pony' impersonation hanging over his stable door on tiptoes and will try and con sweets out of anyone in the vicinity.

As you can tell, he's quite food oriented!!

I am giggling at some of these! :D

My 17 year old bay Sammi gets annoyed if I don't pay him attention. If I go up to another horse on the yard, or even to speak to other liveries, he kicks his door. As soon as I turn around he stops with his ears pricked with a 'butter wouldn't melt' expression. If you leave his door slightly ajar, he butts it open with his nose, sometimes with great force, and usually whacks me! If I stand in front of his stable with my back to him to talk to people, he whacks me around the side of my head until I pay him attention. A brat I hear you say! :o

My 2 year old coloured Rox is always up to no good. You can never leave anything within reach of him. Everything goes into his mouth, and if not, he uses his front feet to have a feel.

The first week I had him, (he was an unhandled 9.5 month old colt), whilst poo picking his paddock he followed me round, but I wasn't able to touch him. I turned my back for literally a second and he had got both front legs in the wheel barrow, stood as proud as punch.

Another funny tale was when the 'rabbit man' was ferreting. He had put a ferret down a rabbit hole, and nets covering the other holes waiting for the rabbits to make great of their escape. Cue a naughty little coloured pony going to investigate what this man was doing, grabbing the net in his mouth, and galloping off across the field with it. The poor rabit man had no experience with horses whatsoever, and had to chase Rox to get it off him. Rox naturally thought this was a fun game! xx :D

These are ace! P does a few things occassionally, but his latest is if I leave him tied up while I popn in the tack room, he unties himself and comes after me... never hear him coming though, he's just there.... standing... watching... then wonders why he has to reverse out again! He likes knocking things over though, hay bales etc, and ALWAYS digs a trench in his stable to lie in... if I do it... he won't go in. A friends gelding won't go in his stable unless his bed is spanking perfect, banks immaculate... I kid not. I've seen him! My shettie used to stand under P when it was raining, and bite his knees if P tried to move...!

when having to go through gates, he nudges the gate open for me after i have undone the catch, almost as if to say "this is how you do it" lol
