Sorry for sounding so stupid but when people go hunting do they take a friends horse or do they borrow one from a hunt branch for the day??
Thanks in advance

If you don't have your own you can hire one. If you phone the secretary of the hunt you want to go with, they will have a list of local yards with hirelings. It's not cheap though so if you could borrow an experienced hunter from a friend it would be well worth it.

Some hunts do newcomer days and I know some of the yards here do cheap rates for hirelings for the day. Speak to your local hunts, they should let you know if they do anything like that. It's well worth it to have a go!

It is quite expensive, but it it would be better to go to a proper hunt livery yard as the horses will be fit and experienced and the horse would be delivered to the meet and collected afterwards and the livery owner might go out with you as well.

I wouldn't want to take an "unknown quantity" out hunting, especially as you haven't been before. The horse can ensure a really good day, or a completely miserable one. Plus it is hard work for the horse and they do need to be fit and in hard condition as they could easily get injured.
