why can't H&H re-classify all the horses for sale which are "price on application" into their own section??

I'd quite like to browse the 0-£500 and the -£1000 bracket without being inundated with more horses I can't afford!!!!!

They just need to call it the " I think my horse is far too expensive for commoners like you to be interested, so don't even bother looking..." category

I agree too, but why do people put POA on ads? It would put me off phoning as it's obviously expensive but would be the first thing most people would ask anyway

how about the ones that ask for 'sensible offers' but don't give a price. i'd NEVER offer a random price. you might either be very insulting, or get ripped off... i do wonder why people can't just put the price on there!

i was once told by someone that 'if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it'...

not knowing a starting point is terrible when trying to barter
- really discouraging.
I wonder if someone who puts a horse up for lets say £20,000 gets more responses than someone who wants a £20,000 offer but puts POA on their advert?

What bothers me most about H&H adverts, is that you can't limit the sex of the horse when you search. I don't want to trawl through pages of geldings, why won't it let me limit my search to mares?! On horsemart and horse deals then you can limit it to mares, and on horsequest you can do "cmd f" for "mare", but H&H doesn't have this option.

Funny you should mention this........................

When i was looking I looked for the top of my budget and under and found the most amazing horse, then noticed it said POA, so kept the ad and didn't bother calling.

Over a month later of finding a load of rubbish and wasting loads of time I came across the advert that I printed out. I decided to get the courage to call the number and was told that the horse was sold. They were then very helpful and told me they had another that I might be interested in and to look at their website - again why was this not on the ad??

Anyway went to see this other horse and bought the one that I originally wanted that was POA as were all the others on the website - he was only 6k and I got him a bit cheaper - it was a twist of fate that he was available - I think they were sick of me constantly asking about him tbh!

I did ask why they did POA and they said they didn't want people being nosey and if they were really interested they would call up and find out - they don't just sell anything to anyone. I did mention that I waited about 6 weeks to call them because I thought he would be too expensive and I would be wasting their time. Luckily I got the balls to call them and after a lot of pestering I got my dream horse - just a shame he damaged himself 5 weeks after I bought him lol!

Lochpearl, is that your handsome grey lad you are on about? How's he getting on now?

Mine is going back to the hospital next week for X rays...

Hi Puppy, yes he is the one!! we had a set back a month ago with nail bind - thanks to the stupid farrier, he also had a little puss in the foot, but nothing major and was still on 3 legs, xrays showed gas so just infection but nothing errupted. New farrier now and dare I say it - sound in walk.

Still on Box rest until the new year when we should be able to walk in hand, but we are hoping that the IRAP and shock wave have improved. Plus he can't kick the door anymore as I bought a 'quitkick' that squirts when he kicks and sets off an alarm - he's not impressed but hasn't kicked in about 3 weeks!!

How is your lovely girl? I can't remember what her prognosis was?

What a great idea! Glad to hear he is slowly improving. Do be careful with that walking in hand work though.

Just the thought of it makes me cringe!!

She has serious osteoarthritic changes in the off side fetlock joint, and some degree to the near side one also

Enough to pretty much end her ridden career, with the tiny chance of being a light hack, which is little consolation to me

We are using up the insurance funds to inject the joint with anti inflamatories and steroids to make her as sound as possible, and I hope to put her in foal in the spring, as we'd always planned to breed from her, and the vets have assured me this in no way makes her unsuitable.

She is very well in herself (read too well and doing cartwheels round the field every day

) albeit it she is clearly a little bored being out of work, and she really did love being ridden

The X rays next week are to assess how the injections she had 8 weeks ago have benefitted her, so *fingers crossed*

Oh gosh! Good luck, I really hope that she has benefitted from the injections and that it is good news. Who is your consultant there?

the quitkick is from here http://www.quitkick.com/ it is the best £200 I have ever spent and could actually make him heal quicker as he was belting the stable door constantly for my attention and now it is quiet and peaceful and he can walk!! The walking in hand will only be done when not icy and he is pretty good in his eskadron headcollar (the one with the chain) or chifney. It's a pain as we have a walker but I imagine the vets wont allow me to use it lol.

Lots of good luck vibes on their way for your mare next week xx

Thanks

Initially she was seen by AO, but LL seems to have taken over whenever she's is admitted there for treatment. Ironically, it will be a year to the day since my big head accident that I shall be taking Be to the hospital next week, so I hope we all survive unscathed

Who do you see there?

PS - I love the horse in the kickstop video!!
