iv been to look at a very nice cob at the local rescue and am really interested inn her, im going to go back next week and take her on a hack shes 6yrs old so still quite young does anyone else have a horse from a rescue and what are your experiences thanks

We don't have one, but the 2 other ponies on the yard we're at are rescues from WHW. They are both really lovely natured, really calm, you wouldn't believe they were rescues! I know not all are like these 2, but good luck with the one you like :)

I got my mare from WHW 12 years ago now when she was five. She had been badly treated and in some sort of wire accident too, didn't get the full story but know she was immediately removed when found but her companion died. As you can expect she has a few issues, was very untrusting to begin with and was very green. Having taken the time to build a relationship and work round her issues she is my best friend. She wouldn't win a beauty contest, she doesn't jump and has more enthusiasm than talent for dressage, but we have fun together.
Personally I love the fact that I won her trust, we understand each other and know what to expect from each other. I've had other horses, have other horses, but she's my girl. She's 17 now, getting on,( but still rides like a five year old) and I know losing her is going to be the worst day of my life.
Horses with a 'past' can be challenging, but in my opinion it is more than worth it!

I have a 7 year old 14.3hh cob mare from World Horse Welfare, I got her last year. She was rescued at 18 months old as she had been starved. They rehabilitated her and broke her in when she was 5 years old, although she was starved I don't think anyone has ever treated her badly so she is the most friendly horse who loves people. I think rescue horses are good as you can generally get a good history of the horse from the charity, also if your circumstances ever change they will take the horse back and rehome them so you know they will always be looked after.

ok great well im going to ride her tomorrow so fingers xd ill have a beautiful hairy fat cob im so excited
