ok, new horse arrived on friday, and after the problems with Rio and her refusing to be left on her own i am determined that Jerry will be used to being on his own in the stable from the beginning,

so yesterday took hector for a little hack, only 10mins or so, left mum keeping an eye on jerry, she said he was quite stressed, and he doesnt seem to have really settled again since, like hes always keeping an eye on hector to make sure he doesnt leave,

i now wish i hadnt tried it so soon, but too late now, so should i persevere or give him a week to really settle in before i try seperating them again?

thanks guys
xx

no advice I'm afraid as Pidge is very attached to sister's horse and gets stressed if Sunny is away for too long so will be watching the replies with interest.
Congratulations on new horse, he looks lovely, sorry only just saw your post

Keep at it! I am all for beginning as you mean to go on, and they cannot be joint at the hip! HOWEVER, remember that the horses will pick up on YOUR stress, so keep that in check! You could always administer some Bachs Rescue Remedy to the horse left at home if it eases your mind

thats was what i thought, just felt a bit mean as he looks so anxious, hector is so clingy though so im sure he doesnt help, will carry on as i have been then, looks like a nice hack for me in the rain

longreined jerry this morning and he seemed quite happy to leave hector which was a relief

you have every right to be chuffed with him after all that searching! and of course I'm biased as he's ISH
