My mare has been in our top field since April, when she first went in there she didn’t cough or breathe heavily at all, after a couple months being in there however she started to cough and the start of rides and just generally made a wheezy noise when walking in from the field etc. I started giving her some turmeric and bought her some easy breathe licks however nothing seems to be helping.
We brought another elderly mare into the same field around July/ August time and now she’s seeming quite wheezy too?! I’m wondering if it’s something to do with the grass in that field, I read somewhere about there being red or grey on the tips of leaves but I can’t remeber the specifics?
Anyone know what the possible causes of this could be? Thanks

My boy gets wheezy each year from about late May to early Oct (subsiding now) which is pollen/allergy related. Even in summer when it is raining he is much better - this summer we had virtually no rain for 3 months!! Have tried various "breatheasy" type supplements which have not worked. Ventapulmin works well when he is really bad and I also use a human asthma inhaler with a babyspacer which certainly helps.
I think grass pollen is the main culprit but probably some trees as well.
