Horses in Barbados.

Just had a quick Google and there does seem to be quite a big equestrian network, there's a fb group with all events, shows etc

Yes, there are race horses, polo ponies and SJ/Dressage yards, but they all have the same problem, feed is basic, hay is rubbish. No choices , and no tack shop at all. Basically there's a 60% tax on everything imported in so people either smuggle stuff in their suitcases when they travel, or pay the tax on delivery or shipping, or make do with what you can find. I wanted to know if anyone out there in the UK could help, maybe a reader could put me in touch with a major supplier? But thank you for your replies..

It wasn't clear what you was asking, I thought that was being helpful ha

Have you contacted the bigger yards/teams to see if they have any contacts?

Hi I'm new to this H&H forum, but living here in Barbados, where we have no tack shops, limited availability of good quality hay or feeds and no hot shoe farriers Horse ownership can sometimes be a real challenge!

Springate, didn't you transport your horses by sea to the Caribbean back in 2014? Perhaps it did not go as planned? Have you only recently relocated with your horses? Apart from the feed issue, how did they cope with the journey? I'd be really interested to know.
